City of Macon Urban Redevelopment Plan
The City of Macon has and continues to be the economic heart of Middle Georgia. Macon, like many central cities across America, has within its boundaries areas that have a need for redevelopment, reinvestment, and blight removal. The purpose of this Urban Redevelopment Plan for the City of Macon is to put in place a framework that the City of Macon can use in bringing about the revitalization of declining areas that will enhance the opportunities for area residents and improve the economic conditions and livability conditions for the City of Macon as a whole.
The framework of this plan couples the efforts and redevelopment tools of the City of Macon with redevelopment tools offered by the State of Georgia. The assistance that the State offers is derived from the Georgia Urban Redevelopment Act. (Refer to Sections 1.2-1.6, pgs. 5-10 for more details.)
