NOTICE OF COMMENT PERIOD FOR THE AMENDMENTS TO THE 2035 LONG RANGE TRANSPORTATION PLAN FOR THE MACON AREA TRANSPORTATION STUDY

Notice is hereby given that the public comment period has begun for the amendments to the 2035 Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) for the Macon Area Transportation Study. These amendments concern changes to the network year and conformity determination for the I-16/I-75 interchange road project and related projects. Comments on said amendments will be received until the end of the working day on March 23, 2010.

Comformity Determination Report January 2010

The Clean Air Act requires the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) to set limits on how much of a particular pollutant can be in the air anywhere in the United States. USEPA has defined the allowable concentrations of pollution in the air for six different pollutants – Carbon Monoxide, Lead, Nitrogen Dioxide, Particulate Matter, Ozone and Sulfur Dioxide. Ground-level ozone is not emitted directly in the air but is the result of a chemical reaction where emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx) and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) combine in the presence of sunlight.
